2008 film selections for the New Docs program of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival has announced the release of the 2008 selections for the New Docs program of the festival. A record number of submissions, over 1,200 films, were submitted for competitions this year, with over sixty selected for the festival.
"We are thrilled with the New Docs line-up and look forward to showcasing the work of this terrific group of filmmakers," said Phoebe Brush, director of programming for Full Frame.
The festival, founded in 1998, celebrates the power and artistry of documentary film. Providing documentary filmakers with opportunities to showcase their work is the main mission of the festival, along with stimulating converstation and community between filmmakers, idustry executives and the general public.
Robyn Yigit Smith, managing director of Full Frame, looks forward to welcoming the filmmakers to Durham. "We have deep respect for the commitment these filmmakers have made to their films and the film's subjects," she commented.
Full Frame is recognized as the premier documentary film festival in the United States by both The New York Times and indieWIRE and is well-known for its southern hospitality, relaxed atmosphere and walkable venue layout. During the past decade Full Frame has welcomed both first time and celebrated filmmakers including Martin Scorsese, Abbas Kiarostami, Michael Moore, Syndey Pollack, Errol Morris, Barbara Kopple, Ken Burns, Ric Burns, Charles Burnett, Mira Nair and Jonathan Demme.
