Could Hillary Clinton Become the First Female President?

December 4th 2006 03:35
Hillary Rodham Clinton
According to CNN, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is holding discussions about and interviewing potential campaign staff for a White House bid in 2008.
Clinton retained her senate seat in a landslide victory last month. She also stated before that election she was considering a presidential run.

Will Hillary Clinton decide run for president? If so will she win the primaries, then will she win the presidential election?

My American friends tell me she won't have a chance as she is too divisive.

Microsoft, Sony and probably even Nintendo wouldn't want her to win, vote hillary clinton vote end of videogames (well not quite but almost)... For that reason alone she doesn't stand a chance, like friggin three multibillion dollar companies will let her jeopardize their respective businesses...

She backs 'research' which states only 4% of all school yard violence is caused by kids who never play video games and that 2/3rds is caused by kids who do, yet she forgets to mention most kids do actually play videogames, like maybe 90% of kids?

Sorry, went on ab it of a rant there.

Erm, other than that she looks ugly, she seems way too narrowminded and would find it hard to gain support because of the aforementioned...

As an American, can I just say that whoever is telling you that she won't get in is lying or uneducated. She was already the President once...she will do it again. This time she wont be as distracted, what with Lewinski no longer interning. *smile*

God save America if she does become elected and I thought I should say that now, the g-word, considering she will most likely outlaw things like that once she gets in.

She just won her New York senate seat with a 2/3 majority, so that's a pretty good start.

Who do you think will win the Republican nomination? I think John McCain is meant to be a shoe-in.

Voices -- I thought the Clintons were religous?

Ahmed -- got to love politicians and statistics.

John McCain is a war hero so that will help his case a lot. Interestingly, if McCain wins he will be the oldest president of all time at 72.

McCain is going to have BIG problems with the party activists. People like the Minutemen Project HATE him. In fact, Chris Simcox says McCain almost hit him once at an event.

Plus, he supports Bush's amnesty plan. Big no no.

Hillary is too far to the left to gain the support of middle America. Sure, she'll get huge momentum but that's only because of her cash, background and friends in the Liberal media who want to see her win. But when push comes to shove, I just can't see Clinton getting 50 MILLION votes. She's just too extreme.

Oh... and she's a bitch.

McCain is a war hero, but I'm not certain he'll get a lot of support from the vets. I remember back when John Kerry called the troops idiots a lot of vets were pissed off because McCain wouldn't pick up the bat and start swinging on their behalf.

McCain is more a politician now than a war hero.

"She just won her New York senate seat with a 2/3 majority, so that's a pretty good start."

But remember it IS New York. New York is very Liberal and that's why she moved there. It was all a part of her bigger picture.

I can't wait to see her try to win states like Texas and Florida.

Good luck on that one Hillary.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see Hilary in the White House!

Sorry everyone, but I really like her.

But I think she's too Liberal to take much of conservative America. I'd love to see her do it though.

I'm with KylieW, Phillip...

I really hope so…VOTE 1 Hillary...

…but only if she has a green thumb, otherwise forget it folks because it's just another mumbo jumbo problem for the earth to pick up the tab for all the paper needed for the campaign and another look at the sagging bottom line of global village profits...

… seriously, what is she peddling… take a look at the mess the planet is in and tell me we don't need to be careful who and how we vote for.. Or doesn’t it matter because they’ll only be leaders of tomorrow’s deserts and wastelands anyway ... no caring citizen can afford to get caught up in this one…

Does Hillary Clinton have a green agenda, I don't know? Do American's know if she'll push the Kyoto forward, back the carbon Taxes and shift free energy into gear or is she just another puppet set up to distract the masses..? I will need to do a powerhouse load of googling to get the American say so on her intentions and party plans… when she gets them!

Having said that... maybe I'll add something sexist and inflammatory, like ... if she is green, it may just take a woman to set the earth to rights again... seen the stats. lately...?

Really, if we [the people] don't start paying attention soon, none of it will matter anyway...

Lilla…

For Australian's I guess the same question will go for Kevin Rudd and team too...

...change is in the air,
ready or not...

I hope HIlary Clinton does become the next President of the US. I hope a White-House gardener is caught licking her out, and she is brought to trial. I hope that during the trial she flashes her flange at the Judge and says, 'He mistook it for a flower. Look at these petals.' I hope the Judge has a taste of her petals, and makes a ruling that in the name of justice such actions do not constitute a sexual act. I hope the entire jury have a taste. And I hope the gardener gets off on an insanity clause. 'I thought I was a bee, your Honour, honestly. I only came into the oval office looking for her former husband's sperm.' I hope she is replaced by someone even less worthy. If they are going to vote her in as governor they deserve her as president.

I'd love to see a female President in America, but I can't stand Hillary Clinton... I'm with Ahmed on this, she just jumped on a cause and demonized video games because it was a hot topic.

I wouldn't mind seeing Condaleeza Rice running.

People love Bill so maybe Hillary would get votes because she's his wife.

Hillary might not be all hugs and puppies, but I think she would do a good job as president.

And, for sure, she could not do any worse than W.

President Hillary Clinton is very unlikely- for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with how good a job she may or may not do. Voting in a democracy is a popularity contest, which is why so many of our leaders are so comically incompetent.

Hillary could well get the majority of the Democratic faithful, but she would get virtually no one outside the Dems. The likeliest winner in 2008 will be a candidate who can attract votes from the other side. McCain could well pull it off. McCain is intelligent and a decent man, and while these are both disadvantages in politics, they aren't crippling ones.

she can never become president

she may be fully qualified for our issues domestically, but when it comes to dealing with terrorist countries that have no respect for women.

these countries will try to detroy us even further.

having a women president of the worlds larfgest superpower is a bad idea

same as having a black guy..do you really think the southern militias and white supremists will tolerate a black president?

the usa is not ready for these changes yet.

sorry but thats the truth.

Jake, the US will be ready if he is voted in, otherwise the election system up there is severely flawed.

Well, Philip, you set the cat among the pigeons on this one! I'm not sure if the most conservative white country in the world is really ready for a female president yet. And I can't see any president having the gall to ban video games. Man, they can't even deal with abortion which really does kill people, let alone with games that only pretend to.
