Premarital Sex is Normal, & Has Been For a Long Time
December 20th 2006 07:50
CNN reports that a new study has discovered that 95% of Americans have had premarital sex. Perhaps the surprising thing is, these figures even extend to women born in the 1940's, challenging previous conceptions that people were more chaste in the past.
"This is reality-check research," said the study's author, Lawrence Finer. "Premarital sex is normal behaviour for the vast majority of Americans, and has been for decades."
The Bush Administration has put hundreds of millions of dollars into "abstinence-only-until-marriage" programs for 12- to 29-year-olds. Could this money be better spent in other ways?

Flashes of memories
Yep it is a sad truth about these things! I think parents just tell us these things because they were told them by their parents. I know that both my grandmothers were pregnant at the time of their weddings - in fact a lot of weddings were instigated because of this fact. It would be terrible to have a child born out of wedlock!
Merry Christmas!

Yes I've always been told and believed that society has been slowly morally corrupting, mainly due to the older generations always saying "that sort of thing never happened in my day".
However, this survey has opened my eyes.
Although like you say, it's not that people's behaviour is changing, just that society doesn't look down on those sorts of things anymore.
