Major Celebs and Musicians Gather at 50th Anniversary of GRAMMYS® to Support Global Causes

February 8th 2008 05:52
Ramsey, NJ (OPENPRESS) February 6, 2008 -- Garth Hudson, a recipient of this years Life Time Achievement Award at the GRAMMYS® 50th Anniversary will be on hand to launch Oasis Entertainments’ 2008 global aid initiatives at a star studded Pre GRAMMY® party held at Bordello in Los Angeles (9:00pm February 9th).

Hudson, a founding member of The Band and long time musical colleague of Bob Dylan, along with other music greats such as Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Jerry Marotta of Peter Gabriel, Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails, David Immergluck of Counting Crows and Rami Jafee of the Wall Flowers have all joined forces with musician Mike Brown to release 2008’s “American Hotel”.

The massive CD features over seventy major rock artists who have all donated their time and energy to the effort in order to rebuild a community hospital in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala destroyed by Hurricane Stan.

The event will include performances by contributing artists and a very special performance by the man responsible for American Hotel, Mike Brown.

In addition to some of the best musical talent in the business, Oasis has also joined forces with break out artist, adventurer and author of this years must read book Through The Eyes Of Madness—to provide education for the children of the same Guatemalan community (through the non profit organization Pueblo A Pueblo).

The pre-Grammy Gala will launch Garner’s new book and celebrate the wrap of production on “American Hotel” as well as introduce the newly formed US Board of directors for the Ubuntu Institute.

Representing the Ubuntu Institute at the event will be the honorable Prince Cedza Dlamini of Swaziland, grandson of Nelson Mandela and the nephew of the King of Swaziland.

Ubuntu, whose mission is to fortify, promote and sustain the efforts of young social entrepreneurs in Africa has also partnered with Oasis as a beneficiary organization. The two organizations have begun work on a new album using the Oasis nonprofit model.

Mark Cavener, President of Oasis Entertainment had this to say about the event. “Our objective for this event is to pay tribute to the amazing artists, musicians and aid organizations that are contributing their time, money and energy to foster positive change in the world.”

Cavener continues, “We are truly honored to work with such incredible individuals and organizations. Our goal is to use this event to show the power of collaboration between entertainment professionals and beneficiary organizations. It has been an absolute privilege to have had a hand in uniting these incredible human beings toward a common goal. It is our hope that the star power of this event will raise awareness for the causes we support and show appreciation to those who have lent their talents.”
